 The Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur (OCA) is a public establishment which is associated with the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis. About 450 people are distributed over four different sites (the historical site of Mont Gros in Nice, the Valrose campus, Sophia Antipolis and the observing site of Calern).

OCA consists of two major poles -astrophysics and geosciences. One major component of OCA is the Lagrange laboratory which is composed by almost 190 persons with about 80 researchers. The major topics of Lagrange are: Formation and evolution of the planetary systems, Solar and stellar physics, Physics of the galaxy(ies) and cosmology, Fluids Dynamics and non-linear dynamic and, finally, Image and signal processing.

The Lagrange Laboratory is heavily involved in the Gaia mission with many important responsabilities in the DPAC.

The Galactic Archeology Group of the Lagrange Laboratory as, besides its implication in Gaia, also strong commitments in the Gaia-ESO survey, the APOGEE-II survey and WEAVE.
